Hmm...is the world gonna end?

A friend asked me this question today.

" Do you believe that the world is going to end? "

Without hesitation, I replied, " Yes, of course."

It has always been one of my beliefs that whatever there is on this earth will come to and end one day. I don't have a solid evidence as to prove why is it that way but I think it is just the way nature works. Anyway, it is just what I think. There are others out there that believes that its otherwise.

But one thing I'm pretty sure about the world is that, its getting rather old. And as the days go by, destruction is escalating with an exponential curve. There seems to be no end to it. A quarrel after a quarrel. A fight after a fight. A war after a war. Look at Iraq now. Wars are still going on there. And there's still the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Everyday, a handful of innocent lives are ripped off from bodies. I really pity those people who actually died for nothing. Just because of some screwed-head people or ''leaders'', they are the ones who had to take the pain. They are the one who have to suffer.

Today, the war-going-on-world was brought down to scale according to the way I see it. Though the reasons for conflict were different, it was an example of a negative situation which saddens me as much as what is happening to the world now. Even within a group of leaders, a team, a corp, there are critical differecnes. So critical that some even took an extra mile to slash another comrade's throat. What has the four years been? A waste of time? Where are your values that you have promised to uphold that evening on the 21st of April 2006? Where is your pride? Where? Don't look and point at me, saying I'm pessimistic. But sometimes, it is just to predictable. No matter where you are, which most elite group you are in, there is always that one or a couple of black sheeps. After years of working with other people, I can't help but to think of it that way. And I have a feeling that there's still more to come.

Oaths nowadays are getting meaningless.

Ranks nowadays are fading.

Promises nowadays are getting empty.

Uniforms nowadays are losing their value.

And worse of all, people nowadays are losing their principles

I am not God. I don't possess that much power to change other people's feelings. I am not one of those top scholors who can come up with formulas to eradicate all these nonsense. I am just a normal kid who has common sense, a functional pair of eyes (its getting worse though), a pair of workable ears and a brain which operates humbly without extra special features. And with these few god-given things, I am able to conclude that it is all due to the lack of willing acceptance, lack of respect and lack of personal pride.

It is really difficult to straighten things up now. As long as the ego is there, neither side will cease the shooting, and I mean literally and metaphorically.

As a normal human being, I shall just do whatever I can.

Walk your talk, Syamil... walk your talk...
